Which diagnostic system for my car ?
Not easy to answer, here some hints:
What you need to have yourself to use a low-cost diagnostic system:
- a Windows PC or laptop/notebook, a PDA or pocket-pc or a smartphone with WinCE or WinMobile
- some knowledge of the operating system of these devices is not bad
- an OBD-II compliant car see here
So you may use one of these OBD-II diagnostic systems:
If your car has not the standard OBD-II/EOBD:
Cars without that standard have a manufacturer mandated diagnostic system. So a system especially for the car manufacturer is needed. We offer:
- AMX550 for VAG (Audi, Seat, Skoda, VW) and Daewoo as well as for OBD-II
- OpelScanner for Opel/Vauxhall since 1987
- ElmCan with ScanMaster-ELM for Alfa Romeo, some Fiat, Opel since 1996 as well as for OBD-II
Which electronic control units (ECU's) a diagnostic system is able to scan?
- All systems scan the engine/gearbox controller (drivetrain)
- Vehikel Erkunder scans all ECU's at american cars, Daimler-Chrysler, some Mercedes, Toyota, some german Ford, Volvo
- AMX550 scans all ECU's at VAG
- OpelScanner scans all ECU's at Opel
