The ancient OBD-1
OBD-I or only called OBD

Many people have asked us for support for older cars which do not have the standard OBD-II at all. We gathered some informations about the ancient OBD-1 here but we are not responsible for the correctness of this information. OBD-1 is not a standard and each manufacturer have had his own system. Keep in mind car electronics have made great advancements in the last years which was not availble for older cars.

We support however some manufacturers with ancient OBD-1 cars like Opel with our OpelScanner and also some Alfo Romeo, Fiat as well as Opel engines with ElmCan interfaces and ScanMaster-ELM software. Also older VAG-Group cars and Daewoo cars can be connected to our AMX550 handheld device.

When do my car has OBD-1 ?

Cars without the standard 16-pins OBD-II connector near driver seat and most cars in Europe between years 1996 and 2000 do not have OBD-II compliant control modules. They have OBD or OBD-1.
